Introduction to printmaking & painting courses
Transform your paintings and sketches into prints – learn how create prints using an etching press from an experienced artist and teacher in the beautiful and tranquil setting of La Platte. Meet new friends and watch your creative potential flourish… Visit beautiful locations in bastide, medieval villages to gather sketches to bring back to the studio & then transform into prints.
La platte has 5 unique, double bedrooms (for couples or friends sharing) in a converted former armagnac distillery. With beautiful oak beams and traditional gascon stonework. We have 1.5 hectares of parkland, with ancient oak trees, forest and wild flower meadow. Set on a hilltop overlooking the Gelise valley and vineyards to 3 sides.
Jillian graduated from University of Northumbria with a first class honours degree and has exhibited her art work across the uk and has work in private collections in the U.S and Belgium. She has also spent time teaching at the University of Northumbria and various other colleges. Spent several years teaching and co-ordinating the “Open Doors – Art, Therapy and Learning” course at the Tate Gallery, Liverpool. Jillian specialized in developing art sessions with people with brain injury, people recovering from stroke and people with mental health problems. She has ran “Outreach” workshops with various community groups across Merseyside and has trained others to facilitate workshops with their own client groups.

The courses are open to beginners and to those with more experience, and to those who wish to explore their creative potential – in a nurturing, non judgemental and beautifully tranquil environment.
Two day non residential course – Introduction Printmaking:
Day one
Demonstration of the printmaking process – black and white & 3 colour process
Gather drawings and format to print.
Day two
Produce own prints using the etching press.
Lunch will be provided.
Please bring sketches/drawings/paintings along with you that you would like to transform into prints.
Jillian will guide you as to which pictures would translate well into print.
Printmaking equipment will be provided.
Cost:
55€ per person per day.
Why not stay over at La Platte in one of our beautifully unique bedrooms. Continue printing, socialise with friends or take a walk around our 1.5 hectares of parkland. Bed and breakfast plus evening meal (& wine) is 75€ (subject to availability) 50% deposit required to secure a place & balance payable 2 weeks prior to course commencing.

Six day residential courses includes:
6 days tuition (rags, turps, printmaking equipment, easels will be provided – we ask students to bring their own paints/paper/brushes/etc) accommodation in a beautiful character property. Continental buffet breakfast, buffet or picnic lunch, home cooked evening meal including wine.

650€ (based on 2 people sharing a room)
550€ (for a non painting partner)
300€ deposit is required to secure the place and balance in full is payable 8 weeks prior to course commencing.
Airport pick up is available from Bergerac airport at a cost of €40 per person each way ( based on 4 people sharing the journey – so therefore needs to be co-ordinated with other guests )
There are communal lounges, patios and courtyard plus 1.5 hectares of parkland available to relax in.
